The neighborhood is quiet and safe. There are supermarkets, many stores 2 blocks away. The L and M trains to Manhattan are about 10-15 mins. away and there are a few buses within 2 blocks. The bedrooms are on opposite sides of the apartment so privacy would not be a problem and there is a washer/dryer on the premises.
